Breeders’ Cup Launches Official Cocktails in Partnership with ’21’ Club
Iconic Brands Collaborate to Create Two Specialty Cocktails for Fans to Enjoy Nationwide
NEW YORK (October 4, 2019) - The Breeders’ Cup, one of Thoroughbred horse racing’s most prestigious international events, today announced the launch of the Breeders’ Cup Official Cocktails, two signature beverages created in partnership with iconic New York City establishment ‘21’ Club. Debuting today at ‘21’ Club and set to be served on site at the 2019 Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 1 and 2 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California, the Official Cocktails consist of the Torrie Cup and the Garland, each named for an emblematic element of the Breeders’ Cup. With both recipes involving ingredients that are easy to acquire and instructions that are simple to follow, the cocktails can also be prepared at home, made even easier through comprehensive online cocktail pages that outline, source and deliver all of the necessary fixings created by alcohol delivery company, Minibar Delivery.
“In addition to showcasing the highest levels of Thoroughbred racing, Breeders’ Cup has long been known as a premier lifestyle and entertainment event and we’re excited to launch these Official Cocktails as yet another opportunity for fans to engage with and enjoy the event, whether with us on site or watching from home,” said Craig Fravel, President and CEO of Breeders’ Cup. “We thank our friends at ‘21’ who have poured an incredible amount of time and passion into the creation of these cocktails that we hope will be enjoyed by fans for many years to come. We’re so pleased to bring them to ‘21’, the 2019 Breeders’ Cup World Championships and living rooms nationwide and look forward to toasting their arrival with fans near and far.”
Conceived by Mark Tubridy, one of ‘21’ Club’s most illustrious mixologists who has become widely recognized as one of the most accomplished and innovative bartenders in the business, each recipe has been carefully concocted to produce a refreshing cocktail that is both sophisticated and simple. To accommodate the varied palates and preferences of Breeders’ Cup fans the cocktails feature different liquor bases – one with bourbon and the other with vodka. The bourbon-based Torrie Cup, which is mixed with sweet vermouth, orange juice and lemonade and garnished with a lemon wheel, offers a crisp and tangy taste. Elsewhere, the vodka-based Garland has a smooth and sweet finish, combining triple sec, honey green tea and lemon juice and is garnished with an edible purple flower, a nod to the signature color of the Breeders’ Cup.
“It has been an absolute adventure partnering with the Breeders’ Cup to create two official cocktails for this spectacular event,” said Mark Tubridy, Mixologist at ’21’ Club. “The Breeders’ Cup is looked at with great reverence among the horse racing community and they truly deserve to have signature drinks that can be enjoyed by fans both in the stands and in the comfort of their own homes. For that reason, the Torrie Cup and Garland cocktails were designed to be made just as easily for thousands of people at the tracks as they can be for a small group of family and friends at private viewing parties. Simple, yet delicious, these drinks were inspired by and embody the traditions of the Breeders’ Cup and it is our hope that they become a new and enduring part of that tradition for many years to come.”
Available now at ‘21’ and coming to Santa Anita in conjunction with the official 2019 World Championships, the cocktails are also available for home delivery through a collaboration with Minibar Delivery, one of the nation’s leading alcohol delivery services. Through the collaboration, Minibar Delivery has created comprehensive online cocktail pages for both the Torrie Cup and Garland that compile and deliver all of the recipes’ required ingredients with the tap of a finger, accessible in over 50 markets nationwide online or on Minibar Delivery’s mobile app, available to download on the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store.
