Charyn showed talent from the outset during his 2-year-old season, winning his debut by a half-length on Aug. 7, 2022, in a six-furlong turf sprint at Haydock Park in England. The gray Dark Angel colt finished second by a neck in another turf sprint at Newmarket before trying stakes company on Sept. 17 in the six-furlong, Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury, where he finished third.

Sent to France for the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte on Oct. 8 at Chantilly, Charyn rallied late to edge the pacesetter by a neck and score a breakthrough stakes win.

Trained by Roger Varian, Charyn is out of the stakes-placed, winning Kodiac mare Futoon and is a full brother (same sire [father] and dam [mother]) to Group 2 winner Wings of War.
