Breeders’ Cup Champion
Jockey:
J. Velazquez
Trainer:
D. Vance
Owner:
Carl Pollard
Breeder:
Brereton C. Jones

Caressing gave a career-best performance on racing biggest stage. She was the home crowd favorite for the 2000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs because of her Kentucky-based team of owner Carl Pollard and trainer David Vance, but the betting public made her the longest shot in the field at 47-1. She won by a half length to give Pollard and Vance their first victory in a Breeders’ Cup race and secured her Eclipse Award honor as champion two-year-old filly. She raced for two more seasons before retiring with just shy of a $1-million bankroll and a record of five wins in 18 starts.
