Indian Blessing used her blazing speed to motor away from a dozen opponents and score by 3 1/2 lengths as the $1.70-1 favorite in the 2007 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on a sloppy track at Monmouth Park for trainer Bob Baffert. Undefeated at age 2, the daughter of Indian Charlie covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.73 only three weeks after scoring in the Grade 1 Frizette at Belmont Park. With jockey Garrett Gomez aboard for all her victories, Indian Blessing was an overwhelming choice in Eclipse Award voting for 2-year-old filly in January.
Indian Blessing went on to win seven more stakes at ages 3 and 4, including Belmont’s Gallant Bloom twice for owners Patti and Hal Earnhardt en route to the 2008 Eclipse for Female Sprinter. She finished second in the Golden Shaheen in Dubai and was second in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint before being retired in 2009.
