Reraise went to the lead at the break and never trailed in posting a two-length victory over Grand Slam in the 1998 Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Churchill Downs. Reraise was ridden by Corey Nakatani, who won the Sprint for the third consecutive year and was his fourth victory in the Championships. Craig Dollase trained Reraise and the victory made Dollase the youngest conditioner to win a Breeders’ Cup race at age 27.
A winner of eight of nine career starts, Reraise raced only once at age 2 and did not begin his 1998 campaign until late May. Prior to his Breeders’ Cup victory, Reraise won the Kentucky Cup Sprint Stakes at Turfway Park, one of six tracks at which the gelding visited the winner’s circle. Reraise earned the Eclipse Award as champion sprinter in 1998.
