Beautiful Pleasure secured her Eclipse Award as the champion older female of 1999 when she edged favored Banshee Breeze in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Gulfstream Park. Campaigned by John Oxley and trained by John Ward, Beautiful Pleasure flashed her talent early on by winning the Grade 1 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park to earn a ticket to the 1997 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Lightly raced at three, Beautiful Pleasure was brilliant at four with a pair of Grade 1 victories prior to the Distaff. She was nearly as good the following year and once again competed in the Distaff. She raced again at age six before retiring with 10 victories in 25 starts and earnings of $2.7 million.
