Rhythm took control on the far turn en route to a two-length victory in the sixth running of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Gulfstream Park. Among the 11 rivals trailing Rhythm that day was Go and Go, who would win the 1990 Belmont. Rhythm gave jockey Craig Perret his second of four Breeders’ Cup wins and trainer Shug McGaughey his third victory in the Championships.

Winner of the Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old male in 1989, Rhythm won his first race at Belmont Park on Sept. 15, 1989 in his second start. A winner at three tracks during his career, Rhythm won the 1990 Travers (Grade 1) at Saratoga and also won the Grade 3 Colin Stakes at Belmont Park as a 3-year-old.
