Clive Brittain worked his Group 1 magic once again when saddling maiden Hibaayeb to win the prestigious Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile.
Sent From Heaven made this a true test from the off and she had plenty of her rivals off the bridle as the field swung for home.
The hold-up horses struggled to get competitive and the two to lay down a challenge were Lady Darshaan and Hibaayeb, who raced in second and third from the start. Lady Darshaan made her move on the outside, as the winner produced her effort up the inner.
Hibaayeb started to wander off a straight line as she hit the front and badly hampered Sent From Heaven, who was starting to fade.
Neil Callan on Hibaayeb then struck Lady Darshaan across the head with his whip, causing the runner-up to jink violently away from the winner.
Hibaayeb had to survive a lengthy stewards' inquiry, but the stewards allowed the result to stand. William Hill were quick to offer 25-1 about the 8-1 winner for the Investec Oaks.
A delighted Clive Brittain said: “Not many people try to win a Group 1 with a maiden but in my eyes she had already run two races that she could have won.
“If she had not come here she would have gone for the Marcel Boussac, that race comes a bit quick now and it would not worry me if that was it for the season."
