Strengths: Consistent and classy filly has been up to every challenge, taking on the boys, sprinting, routing and racing on two continents. She possesses a solid closing kick in races up to one mile, both in one-turn and two-turn races. Ventura has been able to handle both turf and all-weather track surfaces. Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel rates as one of the game’s all-time greats with the fillies and mares.
Weaknesses: Has not been subjected often to sprint-like early fractions, so her ability to stay close in a fleet early pace or punch home late in that scenario remains a bit of a question heading into the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. She has yet to face the game’s best distaff sprinters, but certainly has the class lines on grass to suggest she’s in that league.
